The LMF Standalone Ballistics Calculator

Description

A Single Range and Range Card Fire Solution.

The LMF Standalone Ballistics Calculator implements the Siacci flat-fire trajectory and G7 drag function using Microsoft Excel and Libre/Open Office Calc spread sheet applications. The Siacci method is accurate for all sporting arms.

The advantage of the LMF Standalone Ballistics Calculator is that it runs on desktop, laptop, tablet or phone without internet connection.

This calculator is free to use and modify. Individual sheets are locked and cells are protected to prevent accidental deletion of formulas. No password is required to unlock sheets. There are rows and columns that can be unhidden after sheets are unlocked. The calculator contains no macros.

Data Entry and Single Range Fire Solution

The figure below shows the "Input" sheet for data entry and single range fire solution. Air density is calculated using station pressure or altitude. Data entry is limited to imperial units. The BC must be based on the G7 drag function. Colored cells are for data input. White cells are data output.

Range Card

The figure below shows the "RC" sheet for displaying the range card. The "Range" cell in the "Input" sheet controls the card's maximum range. The "Increment" cell in the "RC" sheet sets the range step size. The "Count" cell shows the number of range card entries and the limit is 200. If you wish to print the range card, set the print range and adjust the scaling for optimal output.

Validation

The "Validation" sheet is for reference and compares output from this calculator against Berger-Litz, Bison Ballistics, JBM Ballistics, Strelok and Hornady online calculators. The "Validation" sheet can be deleted without affecting the calculator.

Hidden Sheets

Sheet "ST" contains the numerically integrated Siacci table and G7 drag function. The Siacci table is computed using the method given in "Modern Exterior Ballistics" by McCoy. Sheet "DA" is for reference and contains density altitude calculations and formula sources. The "DA" sheet can be deleted without affecting the calculator.
